Tunnel gig on 23 April

Postby adcraig » Thu Mar 04, 2010 10:05 pm

Wondering how many/any of you are going to be attending Paul's first gig.

I'm hoping to travel up from East Kilbride to see it, but as I'll be on my Jack Jones (so called mates are opting to wait for the next Ferry gig)- I was hoping there were either others travelling up, or local fans that I could meet up with at the Tunnel or another pub beforehand... :?:

Sadly not, but I'll be there with bells on when they reach The Peel in May.

I'll be there, looking forward to it, nmever seen Pallas before, and not as familiar with their stuff as i should be so looking forward to seeing them for the first time at such a historic gig :) Not sure where I'll be beforehand, probably either helping Jo set up for her support or in the pub :P

I'm likewise looking forward to hearing Jo's set. I hadn't heard of her, but just listening to the sounds on her website made it clear that it really will be a night to savour! Here's hoping the license is late enough to allow her (as well as Pallas) a good long set... :P

Hope you enjoy it, *plu* *plug* there will be CDs of her new album which is imo rather good for sale at the gig hopefully */plug* */plug*. I am looking forward to seeing Pallas play the Tunnels specifically too as I think it might lend itself quite well to an intimate gig like this, though the band won't have anywhere to hide from the fans ;)

You're quite right comedyrodie - its far too quiet in here...

But I'm glad you got your wish and Mike put up a couple of clips from the gig, and hopefully more still to come!

It was an excellent gig, and I'm really glad I was able to travel up for it. :D

I don't think it was the best I've seen from Pallas, but there was a tangible excitement and enthusiasm, on and off stage that made it a really special occasion. Paul did himself proud - and as a unit the band were solid. It was also so obvious how much the XXV material has come on-listento Monster on YouTube - its come on leaps and bounds from when I saw them at the Glasgow Ferry last, and Paul brings his own slant on it.

But as much as it was an event, it was still quiet compared to the reception they'll receive when they revisit Glasgow - Aberdeen for whatever reason is just a wee bit more restrained... with new material and a new frontman, this is a band revitalised, and with festivals already booked this year, this could be a very big year for Pallas!

PS - Jo McCafferty contributed to a great evening, and her new album 'Overtaking on a bend' is certainly worth exploring.
